Anne Arundel County has always been home for me.

Growing up in Glen Burnie and Pasadena, attending Anne Arundel Community College, working in Annapolis and being active in my church have helped me understand the power of community.

I've been married to my best friend, Sherri Martin Arnold, since 1994. Sherri is an Anne Arundel County Public School teacher. Together, we have two children. My family and I are active members of Bay Area Community Church in Annapolis. We are passionate about living out our faith both at home and in our community.

After graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University with a B.S. in business and political science, I worked for the The Capital newspaper. I later earned a Professional in Human Resources certificate from the HR Certification Institute and became an SHRM Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resource Professionals.

Since 1991, I have worked for Bob Duckworth, Clerk of the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. There, I develop and monitor the court’s $9.4 million budget and work with some amazing people who are committed to serving and connecting people to the services of the court. One of the many joys of my work is officiating civil weddings — I’ve performed more than 4,000 civil marriage ceremonies!

For over 20 years, I have been a conservative voice in Maryland’s judicial branch of government, advocating for less bureaucracy and for direct service to the people of our county and state. I believe that bureaucracy and its complicated rules don't provide us with the best value in government. Rather, government should connect with people, have an attitude of service, and respect the citizens it serves.

Sherri and I love our county and our community. We are raising our family here, we work here and we live here. Sherri has been an Anne Arundel County teacher for 27 years.

As you consider the mission of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, my experience and knowledge of the office, and my passion for fair, equitable and accessible justice for everyone, I ask for your vote: Doug Arnold for Clerk of the Circuit Court in 2018.
